THE CHALLENGE: At 15, Synthia carried the quiet pressure of growing up in one of Kibera’s most densely populated communities, where the world sometimes tells girls their dreams are too big.

THE JOURNEY: Synthia first encountered SAA’s basketball programme from a distance — watching from the edge of the court. She picked up a ball and never stopped. SAA’s coaches walked alongside her, teaching her that discipline means showing up even when it is hard.

THE TRANSFORMATION: Today Synthia is the captain of SAA’s U15 Girls’ Basketball team. Her confidence has transformed on the court, at home, and in her community. She now inspires other girls from Kibera to step forward and believe in themselves.
